Upcoming Events + New Connections: With a Little Help from Cigar Box Battles!

There are some people in this world that you just click with the first time you meet them- I would put the guys at Cigar Box Battles into that category. I had heard about their high quality gaming mats before, but it wasn't until I was at Nashcon a few years ago that I was able to put names and faces with the product. I was introduced to Cory (pictured on the right) by one of my oldest gaming friends, Titch White. Needless to say, we had a great time together at the con, playing in different games and discussing all things wargaming.

I'd argue that their product is nearly unrivaled on the market, and they were some of the first people in the industry to make the types of gaming mats so commonly used today. You can get just about anything from CBB (believe me, I know- I have about a dozen of their mats), covering both historical and sci-fi fantasy wargaming. I've also seen them partner up with different gaming companies and even do custom orders.

Both Cory and Titch were some of the first people I discussed Next Gen with, and it's with great honor that I can announce that CBB is hooking us up with a few gaming mats that will help us with our summer events! I'm stoked to be working with them, and I know for a fact that many of our games at Historicon 2022 will be played on their mats.

On that note, we have three new libraries we'll be working with- all introductions being made at CLA 2022, which we presented at back in May. First up is a game day at the Waterford Library in Waterford, Connecticut, on July 6th:

The second event is just a few minutes away for me in Canton, CT, again at a local public library on July 9th.

Both facilities are gorgeous, and new locations for Next Gen. At this point, we have nearly a dozen institutions and organizations that we're working with, which is keeping us busy and motivated to get gaming.

Again, huge thank you to Cigar Box Battles for the sponsorship, and for the librarians at both these libraries for wanting to introduce gaming to their communities.

If you are interested in hearing a bit more about Next Gen, amongst other topics, take a listen to the podcast I did with the Tabletop Gaming Guild. I had an absolute blast talking to these guys, and hope to meet them sometime in August for a joint event. All in all, things couldn't be going better for the organization!

Happy Gaming!
